ERRINGDEN BENEFICE
serving the communities of Mytholmroyd & Cragg Vale in West Yorkshire

St John the Baptist in the Wilderness

The name may have been appropriate when the area was notorious for the exploitation of child labour in the local mills – but the mills have either gone or been turned into accommodation. The church, nestling beside the Elphin Brook, offers a warm welcome to regular worshippers and to visitors in a quiet haven away from the bustle of everyday life. An ideal venue for weddings, St John’s church also provides some lively entertainment in the form of ‘village’ concerts, pantos and soires.

The Yorkshire Countrywomen’s Association meet in the room at the back of church on the 2nd Monday of the month, visitors welcome, but why not become a member?

We also have a small Sunday School (all age groups) which takes place at the back of the church during the 9.30am Holy Communion service on Sunday mornings.
